nail fungus, scalp infection, use near flame or heat
Key tradeoff: The aerosol format goes on dry but adds flammability and pressurized-container warnings that creams do not have.
This is a factual fit-and-tradeoff summary, not a product recommendation. Formula, device and brand claims remain manufacturer claims unless the cited source is explicitly regulatory or independent testing.
What distinguishes this from Lotrimin cream?
Lotrimin AF Powder Spray contains miconazole nitrate 2% in a dry aerosol powder vehicle. The current DailyMed label identifies it as a topical antifungal for most athlete’s foot and highlights relief of itching, burning, cracking and scaling.
The brand name does not identify the active ingredient by itself. Lotrimin clotrimazole cream contains a different active ingredient and concentration in a cream vehicle.
Vehicle tradeoffs
A powder spray can be easier to apply to feet without leaving a cream-like layer, but that convenience introduces aerosol-specific precautions. The current label is pressurized and flammable, so use around heat, flame and smoking is inappropriate.
Same brand, different active and vehicle
Compare this with Tinactin tolnaftate powder spray for a same-format/different-active comparison, or with Lamisil AT cream for a different-active/different-vehicle comparison.

Safety first
What should make you slow down?
This is a flammable pressurized topical aerosol. Keep it away from heat and flame, avoid the eyes, and do not treat the aerosol format as interchangeable with creams, nail products, or mucosal products.
- External use only.
- Pressurized aerosol products carry heat, flame and inhalation-misuse warnings that creams do not.
- Do not generalize this athlete's-foot powder-spray label to nail or scalp fungus.
